fresh starts.

An air on gratefulness pervades my life. Across the edges of my isopod bins, babies have proliferated and scuttle beneath the leaf litter. My plants keep putting out new leaves, fresh shiny growth sprout and stick out in awkward directions. Around me is an abundance of wonderful human beings, whom all gather collectively in relative spaces to bounce ideas and engage in camaraderie.

I am so excited to have a real blog and website under my own domain. I feel that this is an important step for me to move forward. I’m happy to have my own little corner of the internet to write my little heart out in the ways in which I see fit. That said, topics here will vary. Though, plants, invertebrates, art, and world building will take up much of the space available here.

If you’re around and reading this, I am grateful you to, and welcome you to the aforementioned space of mine.

For starters, I’ve been paying a lot of attention to my plethora of young plants.

I’ve currently got two species of nepenthes germinating slowly. These little fellows can take about a year to reach a transferable and established size.

Otherwise. I’ve got three species of drosera in the process of growing up strong, a Mamey Sapote seed I intend to bonsai, and a tray of dragonfruit cactus seeds.

It’s incredibly rewarding to be able to watch and partake in the health and progress of all of these plants. I’d even venture forth to call it fulfilling. It’s wonderful to see so much life explode into existence and spread beyond like a big bang of verdency.

I picked up a triad of giant African millipedes over the past two days. They are astounding animals. I am beyond ecstatic to hold them, let alone them be mine in my home. It feels like a privilege to view them intimately.

Already, their behavior is quite compelling. From grooming themselves in a cat-like way, to the way they explore their environment with inquiry, it’s wild. Im going to be keeping a log of their behavior, and taking many notes about them broadly in general.

This is a rudimentary post in order to have SOMETHING up on here. Thank you very much for visiting and I hope to see you ahead for more comprehensive blog posts (short essays, lol) in the future! 💖🪻💚🌿✂️⭐️
