Storms n’ Stems
The weather today, while still quite warm, is pleasant. I am not a hot weather person by any means though it is bearable today. The humidity is, a little oppressive. A severe thunderstorm just barreled through, and the mighty calamity of wind and water is always endlessly enriching. It’s a thrill to witness the power of nature in such a way. 🌿
It’s a good day to admire plants, too. There’s a tropical tinge to the atmosphere. I visited a local plant store with my mom, as well as picked up a hefty cluster of cuttings and two potted Hoya from a local plant… dealer, so to speak. It was nice to meander and ogle together.
I am incredibly fond of Hoya, a vast majority of my botanical collection being some species of wax plant or another. I almost picked up another inch plant today, but ended up opting with an Amydrium Zippelianum.
The finger-like fenestrations and the way in which it climbs in tandem are quite charming. I am a sucker for unique leaf shapes, which may be evident in my love for Hoya to those who are plant-savvy.
Having plants to take care of in the day to day has been quite good for me. It’s been nice to be in a place where I can manage the load of care for my plants and invertebrates alike. It’s been a rewarding endeavor and consistently continues to be.
I need to go through and cut back some of my hanging plants, as my little carpet beast, Tanka, has been eyeing some of the longer vines. Ugh. Her and the ferrets make a mighty team of plant destruction. I digress. I suppose that means fuller pits and baby plants.
I am looking forward to spending the rest of my day making art. I’d like to settle down with some Crayons or perhaps Procreate on the iPad.
I’m also working on a new oddities related project, cutting down antique etchings and lithographs, as well as some other neat nature-related ephemera. I am excited to post those when they are ready in the oddities portion of my shop.
Above are the beauties that joined the family today! Fingers crossed for success in terms of the cuttings rooting! There’s foliage variety of this selection is popping!
I want to also work towards posting more in depth articles / posts about the various living things in my home, be it plants or critters. Isopods, Hoya, Millipedes, Philodendron, Cockroaches, Carnivorous Plants, and more are all on the table.
All in all, today was quite lovely. Whatever time zone you are in, I wish you the best rest of your day. 🫀💖💚🌿
Thank you for visiting! 🥰
